We all like our skin to look good, but it needs care and attention if that is to happen. As we age we start to wrinkle and get fine lines, but you can reduce the effects of these and lessen their appearance by following a few tips that will keep your skin looking younger and healthier.
Sleep At The Bottom Of The Pillow
You are probably always being told how important it is to get enough sleep. A lack of it can affect us mentally as well as physically and your skin will suffer because of it. When you are having your 7 to 8 hours each night, sleep with your head towards the bottom of the pillow and not buried deep in the middle of it.
If you can sleep with your face on its side with your head positioned at the bottom of the pillow, you will help to prevent squashing your face which encourages the formation of wrinkles.
Eat Well, Or Take Supplements
A healthy diet will promote a healthy skin, and there are some foods that are especially good for it. For instance, bananas have potassium and magnesium which helps to regulate your digestive system, as well as helping to make your skin glow. They are also great for homemade face masks. Just mash one and combine it with some flax seed oil and ground oatmeal and cover your face in the mixture. Leave for about 15 minutes to get the full benefit.
The problem some people have is that they do not like some of the healthier foods they should be eating, so they turn to supplements instead. This is not a problem and with new ones being introduced all the time, it is getting even easier. Just as an example, you can learn more about crystal tomato here, which is a supplement you may not have heard of, but it has some truly good benefits for your skin and body generally.
Steaming
There could well have been a time where you have sat with your head over steaming water when you have had a cold. It helps to clear your nose, but have you ever noticed how much nicer your skin felt afterward as well?
Steaming is often used in professional beauty routines, but there is nothing to stop you doing it at home. Add some herbs or facial tea to some boiling water and leave it too cool just a little. Then hold your face a few inches above the bowl and let the steam penetrate your skin. As well as making it feel smoother, this will also help with acne and allergies, and promote new skin growth.
Drink Plenty Of Water
Your whole body will benefit if you drink plenty of water, including your skin. If you become dehydrated your skin will start to appear dry and flaky, but a few glasses of water each day can help to prevent this from happening. It does not matter if it is still water or sparkling mineral water, they will both help to keep your skin looking good.
These are some really great tips to swear by! I personally follow the sleep on the back rule.
